Joining metals with TIG welding equipment

The big idea with welding, the art of the joining metals, is that the world’s infrastructure dangles around it. It is among the most valued technologies which play a huge role in the industrial revolution. Notably, welding comprises the following of metal joining:

  1. Electrical source of power for the production of an arc
  2. Shielding for protecting the weld
  3. The filler material in order to fill up the welding joint

The TIG Welding Equipment
TIG welding

To carry out the TIG welding procedure as well as make it work to its full capacity, one needs equipment that consists of various parts. TIG welding equipment includes:

• TIG torch –a tool used for controlling the arc.
o TIG torch welding cable
o TIG torch control cable
• Power source – capable to provide the required welding current.
o Welding current cable
• TIG unit with fused control system for adjusting welding current, the arc initiation and more.

o TIG unit cable
• Gas cylinder shield along with the pressure dipping valve as well as the flow-meter.
o Shielding gas
• Polarity welding cable

The TIG Welding-machines incur power source as well as the TIG unit as one unit.

Some more about TIG Welding

TIG welding is a difficult procedure to learn; although with various types of metals, it becomes more versatile. Furthermore, it is a slow process after the perfect execution but it produces high-quality welds. This type of welding is used mostly for critical welding, where the welded metals are not a common steel. For the precise welding, the desirability is small welds.

The main components for TIG welders include:
• Constant electrical power source
• Lead or the clamp; a ground one
• TIG torch
• Tungsten electrode (non-consumable) for producing the arc
• The shielding gas – protecting the weld from air
• Filler wire for joining the weld with other hands

TIG welding (GTAW) is the procedure which uses a non-consumable electrode (tungsten) for producing the weld including or excluding the filler material.Once you understand all of the components of the welding machine, it will become the lot easier for you to zero-in on the best one.

Get the Right Welding Equipment from North America’s Welder Rental Specialists

Using welding equipment at the construction site is one of the most dangerous tasks as it involves arcs to weld the metal pieces together. However, the heavy welding machines are hardly portable and become a burden to carry along with other construction tools. This is why most contractors prefer using the welding machines on rent, then return it back to the lender after completion of the project.

Ensure Your Stick Welder is Performing Well

Welding is a fabrication process, which fuses materials like metals and thermoplastics together. Stick welding, also known as shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or covered electrode welding, is the most used arc-welding processes. It is effective in joining a variety of metals with the help of a fixed length electrode. A manual arc welding process is useful in laying a weld and stick welding makes a continuous weld whilst moving alongside a joint.

Buying Stick Welders

Good stick welders are handy tools because they can do the job quickly and precise. Instead of searching around from one hardware store to another, one can easily purchase stick welders from a store online. Most of the welders come with a warranty. It is always better to invest in a good stick welder which functions perfectly without the need for repairs and replacements.

Tips for Using Stick Welders
  • Learning to hold a close arc can assist in getting the amperage right
  • Understanding the polarity is very important when it comes to stick welders
  • A good arc machine is essential when it comes to using stick welders. You can find a good arc welding machine online
  • An auto darkening welding helmet is required when using a stick welder, this helps in improving the quality of the finished product

Most stick welders are easy to use; those with experience of handling welding machines can easily get the hang of it with minimal training. Stick welding is a primarily a process to weld iron steel, nickel, copper alloys as well as aluminium. This is why it is a most preferred tool in multiple industries for joining different machine parts. Among the many manufacturers offering this utilitarian machine, you need to be careful to buy only from a genuine one.

Top 5 Things to Consider When Purchasing or Renting a Welder

There are numerous procedures to join metals using the welding process. All these procedures convert power to heat in the welding region that leads to softening, synthesis, and linking. Notably, a welder is an eminently hand gripped piece of equipment. Several others are computer guided that are effective in processing several welds at one time or distinct welds in a short amount of the time. Welders find their use in many structures and range from small workshops to large specialized industries and more.

Types of Welders
  • MIG welders
  • TIG welder
  • Spot welders
  • Molded welders

Key industries consider welders a long-term investment, which makes it important for the buyer to consider many things before making a purchase. The conditions will depict the requirement for the appropriate type of welding procedures and the best equipment to suit their needs.

Things to consider before buying a welder:

  • It is important to understand the different types of plasma cutting and the processes used to link two materials by softening and joining them.
  • It is critical to know what type of material is going through the welding process. In spite of being the easiest method, it helps in joining the most common metals like aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • It is important to recognize the time factor requirements, which can affect the welding process. This is crucial because the processing of different equipment accompany different duty cycles.
  • A basic factor to consider during the welder research stage is the availability of the power and the flexibility.

Think twice before choosing

Selecting an appropriate welder supplier is a very crucial decision, especially when the industry relies on equipment processing. Opting for a perfect supplier for the welder can enable the industry owners to enjoy maximum benefits. Industries that shut down after a short period due to wrong selection of machine suppliers need to learn a lot from such key players in the welding machine industry.

Different types of Arc Welding Machines gives you Speed, Quality and Productivity

Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
Welding is one of various processes of joining metals. It is useful for creating an arc between electrode and base material to melt the metal at welding point. The entire process remains transparent for the steel fabrication of structures and vehicles. Arc Welding Machines has become very important and helpful in shipbuilding during the Second World War.

The Power Supply and electrical energy plays a crucial role in welding process. Voltage is the main factor while work is going on.It is very difficult to hold the electrode in a perfect and steady way. If the voltage fluctuates,in that case there is a need of constant power supply. Therefore, the regular supply of current should control the entire process.

Types of Machines
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Gas Tungten Arc Welding (GTAW)
  • Plasma Arc Welding (PAW)

Pipe Welding and Filler Metal Considerations

The pipeline industry and pipe metallurgy has evolved over time, giving rise to a great demand for welding processes and products. For this purpose, many multipurpose welding machines with multi process capabilities have been developed with inverter based engine drives. One of the key factors that welders need to determine in welding process pipe is which wires provide the best results for every weld pass. They also need to select the highest quality filler metal. Process piping has its unique requirements and challenges where welders need to comply with strict codes and take precautions to eliminate the risk of defects that could compromise weld integrity. Some welders have moved from gas tungsten arc welding to wire processes. Technologies such as pulsed gas metal arc welding (GMAW-P) have the capacity to increase production and produce the highest quality welds in process pipe applications. One of the major tasks of the welder is to choose the right filler metal.

Types of filler metals

Carbon steel in diameters from 4 to 36 inches is widely used in process piping applications. For the semiautomatic process, the most common diameter is 18 inches or smaller. The filler metal wire options in such applications are solid wire; metal cored wire; and gas shielded flux cored wire. Each type of wire has its unique features and benefits, which must be considered prior to selecting a filler metal for the job. Solid wire is one of the most popular choices since a greater amount of filler metals goes into the weld joint when compared with SMAW electrodes. On the other hand, to speed productivity on process pipe welding applications that use SMAW or GTAW, tubular gas shielded flux cored wire is an ideal alternative. They meet industry mechanical properties such as high strength and side-wall fusion to help reduce weld defects. Metal cored wires, like solid wires can be used with a modified short circuit GMAW process, and allows welders to standardize one wire and gas for the entire application.
